How to safeguard one's home from the evils of Jinn

Question

Our neighbor is a woman with children and from time to time strange things happen to them. They find eggs in places that are inaccessible to chickens. Once they found a bottle filled with oil and wool and tied with many threads. Their daughter is 15-years old and she used to tell them that she sees strange things and someone came near her. Sometimes, the mother gets depressed and gloomy. The house in which they live had remained uninhabited for a long period. This woman does not know what she should do. Are they under a spell or is the house haunted by devils ?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

These events are most probably the acts of Jinn. However it is easy to protect oneself from such evils by doing the following:

- Recite the Quran at home, particularly the Chapter Al-Baqarah. Referring to this, it was reported that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that Satan does not enter a home in which the Chapter Al-Baqarah is repeatedly recited. [At-Tirmithi]

- Constantly recite the Athkaar (words of remembrance), particularly the morning and evening, at bedtime, and upon waking up.

- Avoid sin and acts of disobedience, including prohibited singing and watching prohibited films and TV serials.

- Constantly observe of acts of worship, particularly obligatory ones.

Allaah Knows best.
