Fatwa CenterAl-Haadi as a company name
Question
Asalam o Alykum! My father established a small company and I suggested him to name it as ''Al-Hadi company''.Pls tell me is it the write name?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
The jurists 
stated that it is permissible to name (the creatures) with the Names of Allaah that could have a meaning common between Allaah and His creatures, i.e. they are not exclusive to Allaah. Al-Khaadimi 
quoted the view of the Hanafi School of jurisprudence saying: “Being named with the Names of Allaah that are mentioned in His Book (i.e. the Quran), like Al-'Aliyy (The Magnificent), Al-Kabeer (The Most Great), Ar-Rasheed (The Wise), and Al-Badee’ (the Creator) is permissible as they are common between Allaah and His creatures but when they are used for humans, they do not mean the same thing which they mean when they are used for Allaah.”
The name "Al-Haadi" is similar to this, so it is permissible, Allaah willing, to name (your company) with it. This is of course if you do not associate the name of the company to the name Al-Haadi as being one of the Names of Allaah, because if this is the case, it is not permissible as this is despising the Name of Allaah.
The Permanent Committee (for Islamic Research and Fataawa) was asked this question: “The municipality doubts the validity of some names which it noticed on some restaurants and butcheries in some parts of the town of Riyadh such as: Al-Hamdu Lillaah Restaurant, Bismillaah Butchery, the Butchery of At-Tawakkul ‘ala Allaah (relying on Allaah), so we want to inquire about the permissibility of such names of those shops, so please advise us, may Allaah reward you." The scholars of the Committee answered as follows: “This is not permissible as this is despising the Athkaar (the forms of the mention of Allaah) and the Names of Allaah, and using them in what is not appropriate and taking them for purposes that are contradictory to their objectives in the Sharee’ah.”
