Question

ismael and ishak have been given two distinct attributes by the quran.what are those attributes?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

This question seems to be a quiz question for which the answerer is required to search for the answer by himself, so that the purpose of the quiz would be realized. Furthermore, the Fatwa center at Islamweb is concerned with giving answers only to the questions about matters that necessitate an action, so the brothers are kindly recommended not to preoccupy us with such questions.

Anyway, in reply to this question, let us say that Allaah The Almighty described Ismaa’eel (Ishmael) may Allaah exalt his mention as forbearing in His saying (which means): {So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.}[Quran 37:101]

He also described Is-haaq (Isaac) may Allaah exalt his mention as learned in His saying (which means): {Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy.}[Quran 15:53]

Allaah Knows best.
