Is it permissible to use fake eyelashes for the purpose of beautifying oneself?

Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Wearing artificial eyelashes for the purpose of beautifying oneself and looking beautiful is not permissible as this is changing the creation of Allaah especially if the eyelashes are permanent.

However, it is permissible to use such eyelashes in case of necessity or dire need in order to remove a deficiency or deformity, like if one is afflicted with a disease or was burnt and the like. This comes indeed under a general issue which is the ruling of plastic surgery as clarified in Fataawa 87848 and 84384.
