Permission of the group leader is not necessary in personal affairs like optional fasting

Question

can we have a fast in tabligi jammat without our ameers permisssion on normal days

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

You are not obliged to seek the permission of your Ameer (leader) to fast and you are not obliged to obey him if he refuses to give you permission. Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen may Allaah have mercy upon him wrote about the obedience to the Ameer of a group of travelers, “If all the travelers in the group accepted this person as their Ameer (leader) during the journey, they are obliged to obey him in all that is related to the journey because he is the leader. However, they are not obliged to obey him in any other matter irrelevant to their journey such as their personal affairs.

Allaah Knows best.
