Hair extensions are prohibited for men with greater reason

Question

Is using hair extensions allowed for men?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Hair extensions are strictly prohibited for men. It has been authentically reported that Ibn ‘Umar and ‘Aa’ishah may Allaah be pleased with them narrated that the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "May Allaah curse the one who attaches hair to her hair and the one who gets hair attached to her hair." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

This is said regarding the woman who uses hair extensions as adornment and for whom Allaah Almighty has allowed forms of adornment that are prohibited for a man, such as wearing gold and silk. Thus, it is implied that using hair extensions is prohibited for men with greater reason.

Allaah Knows best.
