Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

We have not come across any basis for this statement in any Hadeeth, whether Saheeh (sound), or Dha‘eef (weak) or fabricated, and the scholars have not stated that it is recommended for a woman to cover her head when cooking food, and nor that it is recommended not to eat the food that is cooked by a woman who did not cover her head.

It is not permissible to attribute to the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) something that is not confirmed to be authentic concerning it. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "Whoever tells a lie against me intentionally, surely let him occupy his place in the Fire." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, also said: "Whoever relates a narrative about me which he knows is false, then he is one of the liars." [Muslim]

Allaah Knows best.
