He suspects that his son-in-law used magic to marry his daughter

Question

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu. Black magic: My daughter was engaged to a person for three years, but somehow that ended. Six months before the relation ended, my cousin proposed to my daughter, but as she was already engaged, I rejected that. He insisted that I end her engagement and give my daughter to him, but how could I do that without any reason? When the engagement ended, he quickly proposed again; we reluctantly accepted due to his looks, job, and house. After their marriage, he has not socialzed with us. When we found that my daughter's behaviour became abnormal, we referred to a scholar. We were shocked when he told us that my daughter's husband had approached a black magician who used four jinn to make us marry our daughter to him. We are very worried and sleepless, we decided to end the marriage and bring our daughter back. What is your opinion according to the sharia? Wassalam.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

It is impermissible for you to break up your daughter's marriage because of the reason that you mentioned. Breaking up a marriage without a valid and sharee'ah-accepted reason is a grave sin, and it is the doing of the devils. So fear Allaah and do not break up her marriage and do not turn your daughter against her husband. It is also impermissible to accuse your daughter's husband of using magic without clear evidence. Please, refer to fataawa 92167and 128834.

If your daughter is complaining about something, then you should try to find what the problem is. If there is a disagreement between her and her husband, then try to make peace between them as long as this is possible, and do not try to separate between them.

Allaah knows best.
