Question
Assalaamu alaykum. Please answer my question as fast as possible. I work for a governmental organization. My boss wants to do me a favor by sending me as a member of a team on an international tour. The team's purpose is not really related to my assigned tasks, but I can perform the job in a good manner nevertheless. Should I accept, or not, given that favoritism is involved in this tour? As I have served the organization for 11 years but have not toured any country yet, so he wants to send me on this tour. In the past, almost all of my colleagues have toured internationally regardless of whether the assignment was related to their assigned tasks or not. Please answer quickly as to whether I can accept the proposal or not because I think that the assignment is more suitable for another group and so that all the members of that group may go. In my tour, all the other members would be from the relevant group. Please reply quickly.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
If the system in your organization forbids this and your boss is not authorized to contravene it and he is doing this as a favor to you, then it is not permissible for him to send you on this tour, and in such case, it would also not be permissible for you to accept it. You can verify this by referring to the work rules and regulations.
