Passing Wind Without Control

Question

Assalamu alaykom, for quite some time now I've been dealing with an annoying passing wind problem, a need that comes to me everytime I go to make my wudhu. I haven't seen a doctor yet so I'm not sure if it's flatluence or another thing.I did researched a little on the web and found out that people who are continually passing gas can make one wudhu for each salat and it would be fine, but I'm not sure about my case; sometimes I can hold it and others I feel a little weird (though the feeling is always there), so what do you think about it?Another problem is that the path to our mosque is "descent" like and walking through it kind of adds to the problem, so I started making my wudu at the mosque instead, but I really prefer to do it at home so if I'm of those who are excused (can do wudu for each salat without repetition if something comes out of me) can I just make my wudu at home or would that be opposing the verse "fear allah as much as you can" ?Today on a local TV channel when I was going out to the maghrib prayer I saw an Imam who adressed something like this and said that those who can't control passing wind can do it one time and he said about jumuah "he does wudhu at home and then goes and if anything comes out of him no problem", should I think that this might be from allah?Thank you!

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

What you feel is, most likely, nothing but whispers and not a real thing. Therefore, you should strive to resist these whispers and work on riding them.

Do not make a judgment that you released something (wind) unless you are so certain to the extent that you can swear that it happened.

If we presume that what you said is true, then if you can perform Wudhoo’ (ablution) and then pray without passing wind, then you are not suffering from incontinence. Therefore, you must wait until it is time to pray, perform Wudhoo’ and pray even if you miss the congregation or the Jumu’ah prayer, because praying while in the state of certain ritual purity takes precedence over praying with the congregation.

If you do not have enough time to perform Wudhoo’ and prays within the prescribed time, then you can perform Wudhoo’ once it is time to pray (the obligatory prayer), and then pray the obligatory prayer and all the optional prayers until the time of this particular prayer ends (even if you pass wind during this period).

Finally, there is no doubt that this is something decreed by Allah, because it is Allah Who decrees good and bad and whatever He decrees is based on His Wisdom.

Allah knows best.
