Question

Concerning the major signs of the Day of Judgement, what has the beast of the earth have to play in this critical period, also is it true that the beast will have Prophet Sulaymaan's ring and Prophet Moosaa's, may Allaah exalt their mention, stick as a sign to the Mu'mins, could you give me substantial amount of information on this topic.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Among the signs of the Day of Judgement is when the beast will come out from the earth, as Allaah says (which means): {And when the word [i.e. decree] befalls them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth speaking to them, [saying] that the people were, of Our verses, not certain [in faith].}[27:82]. Imaams Muslim, Ahmad, At-Tirmithi, Abu Daawood, An-Nasaa'ee and Ibn Maajah may Allaah have mercy upon them reported that Huthayfah Ibn Ussyad Al-Ghifaari may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "The Day of Judgement will not take place until you see ten signs…" and he mentioned among these signs the beast. As regards the role which this beast will play, At-Tayaaleessi may Allaah have mercy upon him reported in his Musnad that Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "A beast will come out from the earth, it will have the stick of Moosaa and the ring of Sulaymaan, may Allaah exalt their mention. This beast will muzzle the non-Muslim with the stick and adorn the believer's face with the ring so that the people will agree on the truth and the believers will be distinguished from the non-believers." Al-Haakim may Allaah have mercy upon him reported the narration with the following wording: "…so that the people on one table would say to the believer 'O believer' and would say to the non-Muslim 'O Kaafir' (non-Muslim)." Na'eem Ibn Hammaad may Allaah have mercy upon him stated in his book Al-Fittan: 'Ibn 'Umar may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "When the Decree of Allaah comes, as Allaah says, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth speaking to them, this does not relate to the speech in words, but rather a mark that characterizes whomever Allaah orders the beast to characterize."

Allaah knows best.
