Question
What if a Muslim die and he was not praying in that period?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
If a person died while having abandoned the prayer and denied its obligation then he committed major disbelief and was out of the fold of Islam according to the consensus of the scholars
; this is if he was a person who knows that the prayer is an obligation. As regards whoever died while having abandoned the prayer out of laziness but believing that it is an obligation, then the scholars differed in opinion whether or not such a person is a Muslim. Some are of the view that he is totally out of the fold of Islam and some are of the view that he is a dissolute Muslim.
