Responsibility of Muslim man for his wife, mother, unmarried sister

Question

What is the responsibility of a Muslim husband for his wife, mother, children, and unmarried sister as regards?- Food, education and clothing- Savings for future- Investments for future?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

The Muslim man has to spend on his wife as long as she is his wife and also his children by providing food, shelter and proper education for them until the children become adults and become able to satisfy their own needs by themselves.
He should also spend on his poor mother and his poor sisters (although there is a disagreement over spending on sisters) according to his own ability as Allah Says: {Let the rich man spend according to his means, and the man whose resources are restricted, let him spend according to what Allâh has given him……. }[65:7]
He also has the right to save for the future and to invest from his own property. But he is not asked to do the same thing for his mother, sisters and children unless he has some money that belongs to them. In this case, he takes all appropriate steps that increase this money and protect it.
Allah knows best.
