Can me combining Thuhr and 'Asr alone at the home when it is raining? Please evidence from Qur'aan or Hadeeth.

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

The scholars differed regarding the permissibility of joining Thuhr and 'Asr because of rain. The Maaliki and Hanbali schools are of the view that it is not permissible to join Thuhr and 'Asr because of rain, while the Shaafi'ee school hold the opinion that it is permissible. You have to know that those who permitted joining Thuhr and 'Asr prayer due to rain did so in relation to the congregational prayer in the mosque, and not for a person praying in his home.
