Reasons for the weakness of Muslims

Question:

Mr. Mahathir pointed out, "Muslims do not know how to think." Is it the result of cross-breeding and it will take generations to correct? Will Muslims now begin?

Fatwa:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

No doubt that Muslims have become weak and under-developed in many fields of life. The following Hadeeth describes their actual situation. Ahmad and Abu Dawud may Allah have mercy upon them reported that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: "The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their dish. Someone asked: Will that be because of our small numbers at that time? He replied: No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent (of water), and Allah will take fear of you from the breasts (hearts) of your enemy and cast Al-Wahn (enervation) into your hearts. Someone asked: O Messenger of Allah. What is Wahn? He replied: Love of the world and dislike of death."

The reasons for this weakness are numerous. They include being away from Islam, getting divided into small entities, siding with enemies and supporting them, leaving the causes for material progress and civilization development, … etc.

It is obligatory upon every Muslim to do everything he/she can to support the religion of Allah and raise high the Word of Allah. He/she should endeavour to guide Muslims to anything that can increase their strength and enhance their development even if this lasts for years or generations.

It is evident that the knowledge of all that is with Allah. But it is important that every Muslim assumes his/her responsibilities fully and completely.

Allah knows best.
