Executing the will is part of religion

Question:

Before his death, a man asked me to advise and guide his children to the true religion, which I cannot do, for I live far from them. What should I do, knowing that even if I had talked to him about that while he was breathing his last, he would not have paid attention to me, for he had something wrong with his hearing? Please advise me.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

The life or death of anyone is not a requisite for giving advice and guidance to the religion of Allaah The Almighty. Rather, it is valid at any time, even though hastening to do it is preferable. It is of great significance to hasten to give advice and guidance to it. The Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "That Allaah guides, at your hand, even one man (to the religion of Allaah) it is better for you than to have red camels (i.e. the most valuable property in the sight of the Arabs).” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

So, be keen, O Muslim brother, on executing this man’s will before and after his death, as much as you are keen on your life, and by any means whatsoever -- be it by phone, internet, fax, mail, visits, or lectures on cassettes. Allaah The Almighty has made available to His believing slaves multiple means that help spread the Da‘wah (call to Islam), all perfect praise be to Allaah.

Allaah Knows best.
