Using magic and sorcery as a means to convince others is prohibited

Question:

1- A girl committed fornication, but repented to Allaah The Almighty. Now she wants Allaah The Exalted to cover up the whole matter by her marrying the young man who committed fornication with her. However, her family will not accept him. Is it permissible for her, in such a case, to resort to magic and sorcery to make her family accept him?
2- Are there any Quranic verses that she should read to make her family agree to the marriage?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

It is prohibited for this girl to marry this man without the permission and consent of her Waliyy (guardian), and it is also prohibited for her to use magic and sorcery to make him accept the man, whether her family are aware or not of the fornication, because sorcery is a destructive major sin.

Our advice to this girl is to know that the only solution for this problem is to seek the help of Allaah The Almighty, and to supplicate to Him sincerely to make her parents agree to the marriage if the man has repented and has become righteous with good manners.

With regard to your second question, we do not know of any Quranic verse or chapters that should be read if a person wants to convince others of something. However, she should keep supplicating to Allaah The Almighty to make things easy for her, to cover up her sin and choose what is best for her in the present life and the Hereafter.  Then she should tell her parents, or at least one of them, that she wants to marry this young man. If they refuse, she should try to make someone, whose opinion they respect, intervene. If they insist on preventing the marriage, then she should tell her parents, or one of them, about what happened between her and this man, and assure them that she has already repented and regrets the sin, confirming that it was a slip.

We supplicate to Allaah The Almighty to make her parents agree to this marriage and cover up her sin. Parents detest exposing their children because this would be a scandal for them too and bring shame on the whole family.  Nevertheless, if they refuse, she should be patient and seek the reward of Allaah The Almighty for this trial.  However, under no circumstances should she disobey Allaah The Almighty by going to sorcerers.

Finally, she should rest assured that if she sincerely repents to Allaah The Almighty, He will surely help her find a way out of this problem. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease.} [Quran 65:4]

Allaah Knows best.
