A false analogy between wife to man and slave to Allaah

Question:

As-salaamu 3laikum, A while ago I read an article stating that the role of the man as the head of the household is analogous to the relationship between Allah and His servants. I know that some types of analogy are not the same as making a direct comparison with Allah subhanahu wa taala but what is the ruling in this case? Is there any basis for this statement? Jazaakumu Allahu khairan

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Drawing an analogy between the relationship of a man with his wife and that of Allaah with His slaves is incorrect, totally unacceptable, reprehensible, and has no basis in the Islamic Sharee'ah. But the Islamic Sharee'ah has prescribed certain rights for the husband over his wife and enjoined her to obey him in what constitutes obedience to Allaah. Men are given guardianship over their wives. Guardianship means that they tend to their wives' religious and worldly interests. Please refer to Fatwa 85167.

Allaah Knows best.
