Working for a company that leases property to a usurious bank

Question:

Assalamu`Alaykum Warahmatulahi Wabarakatuhu I have an opportunity to work as an accountant in a company .The Company is a Travel agent and have Real estate properties that are Let out.The company does not borrow any loan to run their business or deal in Riba, but one of the building properties of the company is let out to a Riba based bank.As an accountant i will have to maintain the record of rent received from the bank on the building let out.I knw letting out the property to Riba based bank is Contradicting the shariah but will the job of an accountant to Record such rent go against the sharia?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

There is no objection to working as an accountant for this company as long as its activities are lawful in Islam. The fact that one of its properties is leased to a usurious bank, though impermissible, does not affect the permissibility of your working in it as long as your job involves merely recording the company's revenue from its properties and maintaining the relevant records.

However, you should advise the company's officials to refrain from leasing the company's properties to usurious institutions and the like of entities whose activities are predominantly unlawful. If you are asked to conclude or renew a forbidden contract or the like, then you should abstain.
