Question:

Assalumu alaikum Do i have to remove dried hard mucus from my nose everytime i do my wudu to inhale and exhale water into nose? Jazakallah khair

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

You are not obliged to clean your nose of dry mucus for inhalation or exhalation, as these are not an obligation when performing Wudhoo’ according to the view of the majority of the scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them.

If someone performs Wudhoo’ without inhaling or exhaling water into the nose, his Wudhoo’ is still valid.

However, it is better for you to wash the mentioned mucus, especially if it forms a layer that prevents water from going inside the entire nose.

Allaah Knows best.
