Question:

What are the three angels' names in the story of prophet Lut?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

In the story of Prophet Loot (Lot) may Allaah exalt his mention the angels Jibreel (Gabriel), Meekaa’eel (Michael) and Israafeel (Israfil) were mentioned. Ibn Hajar may Allaah have mercy upon him said:

When Allaah wanted to destroy the people of Loot, He sent Jibreel, Meekaa’eel and Israafeel to Ibraaheem (Abraham) and they sought his shelter as travelers, as Allaah told us their story with Ibraaheem in Soorah Hood (Hud). Then, they went to Loot and sought his shelter as travelers. Loot may Allaah exalt his mention feared that something bad would happen to them at the hands of his people, so he hid the matter from them; but his wife informed them about it, and his people came to reproach him for hiding the matter from them, because they wanted to commit immoral acts with them; so Allaah destroyed them through Jibreel, as he turned their cities upside down after Loot and his family left the city, with the exception of his wife, who stayed behind with his people, or she went out with Loot but was caught in the punishment. So Jibreel turned their cities upside down with the tip of his wing, and their cities became a rotten lake whose water and surrounding area could not be used.” [End of quote]

Allaah Knows best.
