Question:

Assalaamu alaykum. My question is about the Hadith scholar Shaykhah ‘Aa'ishah bint Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul Haadi. Was she the daughter of one of the great students of Ibn Taymiyah, Ibn ‘Abdul Haadi? And was she the teacher of Hafidh Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, as is mentioned in Shazaraat Az-Zuhab by Ibn Al-Imad, in 9/178 Shamela, where it says that Ibn Hajar narrated from her and praised her?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Shaykhah ‘Aa'ishah bint Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul Haadi ibn ‘Abdul Hameed ibn ‘Abdul Haadi ibn Yoosuf ibn Muhammad ibn Qudaamah was one of the senior scholars of Hadeeth (who narrated ahaadeeth with their chains of narrators). She was not the daughter of Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn ‘Abdul Haadi, the famous companion of Imaam Ibn Taymiyyah may Allaah have mercy upon them.

Ibn Hajar may Allaah have mercy upon him mentioned her in his book Al-Mu‘jam Al-Mufahras (2/351) and said that he studied many books at her hands, and he then listed some of those books.

Allaah knows best.
