In the previously quoted saying of the Prophet,
sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, there is proof that the supplication means
requesting something from Allaah, through which His
Contentment is attained.
A poet took the meaning of this hadeeth and put it into
poetic form saying:
"Allaah becomes angry when you abandon asking Him,
While the Son of Adam becomes angry, when you ask him
for something."
Therefore, Allaah loves from His Servants that they ask
Him and that they turn towards Him and that they
manifest their destitution and lowliness in front of
Him. And He has made it a duty upon Himself to not send
them back disappointed and empty-handed, as His
Messenger, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, has informed us:
"There is not a Muslim upon the earth that calls to
Allaah with a supplication except that Allaah gives it to
him or He removes some evil of equal proportion from
him, so long as he doesn't supplicate for something
sinful or to sever family ties."
So a man amongst the people said: "What if we ask
numerous requests?" He, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa
sallam, said: "Allaah's
response is more than what people can supplicate for." [At-Tirmithi]
In this is a sufficient clarification of the fact that
Allaah guarantees the answering of the supplications.
This is however, according to its conditions.
Importance of
Du’aa in Ramadhaan:
The
days and nights of Ramadhaan are distinguished times, so
we should seize the opportunity by increasing our
remembrance of Allaah, and making supplications,
especially during the chosen periods when they are more
acceptable to Allaah. These include:
* When
breaking the fast, since the fasting person’s
supplications are not rejected.
* The
last third of the night, when our Lord descends and
says, “Is there anyone asking that I may give; is there
anyone seeking forgiveness that I may forgive?”
*
Asking for forgiveness at dawn, as Allaah says (what
means)
“And in the hours of
early dawn, they (were found) praying for forgiveness.” [Quran
51:18]
*
Observing the night of Laylat al-Qadr. Du'aa is answered
in this night and good deeds undertaken in it are
better than (the deeds of) a thousand months, and
whoever is deprived of its benefits has indeed been much
deprived.
