Question

One of my relatives died while an artificial eye was implanted for him. Sould we bury him with it?

Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

It is religiously affirmed that the sanctity of a dead Muslim is the same as the sanctity of a living Muslim. Therefore, it is not acceptable to violate his sanctity. So if he implanted an artificial eye, then it must not be pulled out. Rather, he is to be buried with it for this action entails deformation to his appearance for which he implanted such an eye to avoid.
