Apostasy: asking to be taught about all religions

Question

What is the ruling on a person who said ‘‘our parents should have taught us all religions so that everyone could choose their own ’’?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallaallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

These words are considered apostasy and disbelief. The person who said this should repent. Instead, this person should have said “praise be to Allaah who guided us to Islam. Never could we have found guidance, were it not for Allaah!’’ This person should thank Allaah that he was born as a Muslim and to Muslim parents, as this is one of the graces of Allaah, for Islam leads to what is best in this worldly life and the Hereafter. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means):

· {And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.} [Quran 3:85]

· {Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam.} [Quran 3:19]

· {and have approved for you Islam as religion} [Quran 5:3]

Allaah Knows best.
