Is my prayer useless?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, you should know that what you are doing is very serious as it is forbidden for a man to have an affectionate relationship with a non-Mahram woman even if she is not married. If she is married, then this is even more forbidden and the sin is more confirmed. For more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 81356 and 92056.

Therefore, we advise you to take the initiative to sincerely repent and to stay away from this woman and cut any relationship with her. Even if this requires leaving your job, then you should leave it because being safe regarding your religion has no rival.

If you had really intended to terminate this relationship, you would have been enabled to do so, because whoever is sincere in his actions, Allaah will help him. Allaah Says (what means): {…then if they had been true to Allaah, it would have been better for them.}[Quran 47:21] Allaah also Says (what means): {As for he who gives and fears Allaah. And believes in the best [reward], We will ease him toward ease.}[Quran 92:5-7] For more benefit on the treatment of love sickness, please refer to Fatwa 92148.

As regards the prayer, if it is performed correctly, then it is valid, meaning that you are acquitted from sin by performing it; however, we cannot determine whether or not it is accepted.

Dear brother, you never know, if you continue to commit this grave sin, Allaah may get angry with you and He will not accept anything from you: neither prayer, nor fasting, nor any good deed. Therefore, you should take the initiative to repent before regretting when it would be too late to regret. For more benefit on the conditions of repentance, please refer to Fatwa 87903.

Allaah Knows best.
