Is it permissible to seek alleviation by dressing the body with lard? Does it affect the purity or validity of the prayer?

Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

Seeking remedy in impure things like lard is prohibited except in the case of necessity based on his saying, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam: “Do not treat yourselves with what is unlawful.” [Abu Daawood]. Whether it is a sort of food, drink or dressing.

Dressing one’s body with an impure thing does not nullify his ablution. However, his prayer is not valid until he washes the place dressed with this impurity.
