Fatwa CenterFeigning to make the husband happy
Question
I do not feel any pleasure when having sexual intercourse with my husband. However, I moan to pretend that I feel pleasure and to make my husband, whom I love, happy. Is this considered lying? May Allaah reward you.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
Doing certain things in order to have a good marital relationship is not considered lying for which one bears a sin, even if it is considered a lie because it is contrary to the actual truth.
The Islamic Sharee‘ah (Islamic law) permits lying in some situations, some of which is when a husband is allowed to lie to his wife and vice versa, as mentioned in the Hadeeth (narration) by Umm Kulthoom bint ‘Uqbah 
that she heard the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, saying: “A liar is not one who tries to bring reconciliation between people and speaks good (in order to avert dispute), or he conveys good.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
The wording of another narration reads, “I did not hear him (the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) permitting anything of what people speak (as a lie) except in three cases: in battle, for bringing reconciliation between persons and the words of the husband to his wife, and the words of a wife to her husband (in an altered form in order to promote love and affection).” [Muslim]
