Question
What are the religious innovations mentioned in the Quran?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
In the Quran, Allaah The Almighty mentions the innovation of monasticism that the Christians innovated from their own accord; meaning, they dedicated themselves to their hermitages and to celibacy. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {And monasticism, which they innovated; We did not prescribe it for them except [that they did so] seeking the approval of Allaah. But they did not observe it with due observance.} [Quran 57:27]
