Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

There is no doubt that you have committed a serious misdeed with this shameful behavior with your step mother as she is among your Mahram women (i.e. relatives forbidden to marry for ever). The Quran sternly warns against marrying a woman who has married one's father. Allaah The Exalted says (what means): {And do not marry those [women] whom your fathers married, except what has already occurred. Indeed, it was an immorality and hateful [to Allaah] and was evil as a way.} [Quran 4:22] Moreover, Ibn ‘Abbaas may Allaah be pleased with him reported that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "Whoever has illicit intercourse with one of his Mahram women, kill him." [Ahmad, At-Tirmithi and Ibn Maajah]

You did well by turning back to Allaah The Exalted and repenting of your sin, and you are advised never to commit such a sin in the future.

Where did you read that "Allaah says if your parent is angry with you, He will never forgive you"?! It is strictly prohibited to attribute false statements to Allaah. He says (what means): {And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allaah a lie or denies His verses? Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed.} [Quran 6:21] Allaah The Exalted accepts repentance for all sins, including disbelief, let alone for what is less grave than disbelief. Allaah The Exalted says (what means):

· {Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allaah. Indeed, Allaah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."} [Quran 39:53]

· {Say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them. But if they return [to hostility] – then the precedent of the former [rebellious] peoples has already taken place.} [Quran 8:38]

There is no doubt that undutifulness to one's parents is less grave than disbelief in Allaah. Indeed, Allaah The Exalted accepts the repentance of the undutiful son and forgives neglect with regard to His rights, but the right of the parent is what remains to be forgiven. Your father should forgive you, but since he has not, we advise you to show more dutifulness and kindness to him and to carry out more good deeds; hopefully, Allaah will cause him to forgive you.

You are also advised to supplicate Allaah often; it is one of the most effective means for attaining relief from tribulations. Allaah The Exalted says (what means): {Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allaah? Little do you remember.} [Quran 27:62]

Allaah Knows best.
