Beware of going to magicians, diviners and soothsayers

Question

I have been married for eleven years and started to suffer from sexual impotence five years ago. All tests show that I am medically fit. Thus, what is the ruling of having an intimate relationship with my wife through foreplay only? May I go to a diviner, for I feel that I am under a spell?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We implore Allaah The Almighty to cure you and remove all ills from you. We recommend that you seek [medical] treatment, for there is no malady but it has its remedy that some people know that others may not. Also, do not despair of the relief from Allaah The Almighty who Says (what means): {And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.} [Quran 26:80]

However, you must not go to magicians, soothsayers or diviners; instead, we advise you to go to people of the Quran who use the words of Allaah The Almighty and His Messenger sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) , in treating the diseases that afflict you. In fact, the Sharee‘ah contains many ways that can cure all ills. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means):

· {And We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.} [Quran 17:82]

· {Say, "To the ones who have believed it is a guidance and a cure."} [Quran 41:44]

It should be noted that a person is required to engage in foreplay with his wife if he is unable to have intercourse with her so as to comfort her, satisfy her sexual desires and protect her.

Allaah Knows best.
