All people equal in Paradise

Question

Assalaamu alaykum. There are different ethnic groups, such as Arabs, Germans, Indians, Chinase nationals, Somalis, Pakistanis, and so on, in this world. Will these ethnic differences be present in Paradise also?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Allah described the people of Paradise in His saying (which means): {And We will have removed whatever is within their breasts of resentment, [while] flowing beneath them are rivers. And they will say: Praise to Allah, Who has guided us to this; and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us.} [Quran 7:43]

Abu Hurayrah and Mu’aath, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said, “The people of Paradise will enter Paradise Jurd (hairless [on the body]), Murd (beardless), fair, with curly hair, and with kohl on their eyes, aged thirty-three. They will resemble Adam (Aadam, i.e. in appearance and figure), their height will be sixty cubits, and their width will be seven cubits.” [Ahmad and at-Tirmithi]

Another narration reads, “They will be thirty or thirty-three years old ...

It is enough for us to know that the people of Paradise will be brothers, loving each other, having no hatred or envy towards one another, and that they will have the same appearance and the same (skin) color; and they will all be like one man, as they were described in Islamic texts.

However, it is more important and more appropriate for a Muslim to pursue the reasons that would lead him to Paradise, as this is better for him and best guided way for him.

Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that a man asked the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention )When is the hour?” The Prophet replied, “What have you prepared for it?” The man replied, “I have not prepared for it many prayers or fasting or charity, but I love Allah and His Messenger.” Thereupon, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said, “You will be with whomever you love.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Ibn Hajar may Allaah have mercy upon him said in Al-Fat-h, quoting Al-Kirmaani, “The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) used a wise style with the questioner; he dealt with the questioner by drawing him to what is as beneficial as what he asked about or even what is more beneficial to him.

Al-Ayni may Allaah have mercy upon him said, “It means, that it is more important to you to be concerned about what will benefit you and take care of the good deeds that will benefit you when the Hour will take place.

The same applies to the issue in question; a wise person should be concerned about his deeds and how he will be held accountable for them and get ready for that Day.

Allah knows best.
