Repented from Playing Games That Involve Kufr

Question

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ I’ve played some bad games that involve kufr and shirk and don’t play them anymore and have repented. People who see my account can see I played them because of ‘trophies’ however I hid them so that only I can see them and perhaps the people who work for PlayStation. Can I still keep this account? For I have games on there which I bought and will lose if I delete..

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If the games you bought are permissible, then there is nothing wrong with keeping the account to benefit from these permissible games.

Nonetheless, we would like to emphasize the importance of saving time and money and warn from spending them on useless things. On the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas may Allaah be pleased with him the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “There are two blessings in which many people incur loss: health and free time.” [Al-Bukhari]

Also, Ibn Mas’ood may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “The feet of a servant will not move on the Day of Judgment until he is questioned about five things: His life how he spent it, his youth how he used it up, his wealth from where he earned it, and where he spent it, and about his knowledge how he acted upon it.” [Al-Tirmidhi]

Allah knows best.
