Is wearing a thorn crown haram?

Question

Selam aleykumIs wearing a thron crown ring haram? Because the Christians claim that a thron crown was placed on the head of Jesus, when he got crucified.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

The Sunnah prohibits imitating disbelievers in clothing and the like. Abu Dawood may Allaah have mercy upon him reported on the authority of Ibn 'Umar may Allaah be pleased with him that he said: The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “He who imitates any people (in their actions) is considered to be one of them.” Scholars have mentioned that the criterion for the forbidden imitation is that it has to be specific to the disbelievers. If it is proven that the mentioned crown thorn is one of the symbols of disbelief, then it is not permissible to wear whatever bears such a symbol. But if it is specific to them and is generally used by all (Muslims and Non-Muslims), then there is nothing wrong with wearing whatever bears such a symbol.

Allah knows best.
