Question
One of my friends claims that he has a relation with the angels and that they help him cure some sick people and tell him about some matters of the Unseen. Is it possible for something like that to happen?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
Your friend's claim that he has a relation with the angels is false. Angels are creatures whom Allaah The Almighty entrusted with certain tasks. They may sometimes help Muslims, as was the case with the believers during the Battle of Badr. However, this does not reach the extent of establishing a relation with them; calling or asking them, or that they tell humans about matters of the Unseen.
Some people confuse angels with Jinn, and we believe this to be the case with your friend. The ruling on dealing with the Jinn and asking them to do certain deeds, has been previously clarified in Fatwa 85875.
