Using Music in teaching Aids is forbidden

Question

I am an English teacher. We are asked to use tapes that have music so that the students get the correct pronunciation. Do I do this or not? If the director insists on doing so what should I do? Please don't be late I'm in real trouble.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

It is forbidden to listen to music or use it for any other purposes. So, try to avoid it while teaching by completely lowering the volume whenever there is music. You should also advise the people in charge of teaching aids to prepare aids that do not contain music. If they do not respond, and you find yourself obliged to use music, then you should quit this job and look for one that does not include forbidden things. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {… And whosoever fears Allâh and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty).} [65: 2].
Allah knows best.
