Question
I am 34-year old woman, and have been engaged more than once. However, all my fiancés broke off their engagements with me. I consulted some Shaykhs and they said that it might be the work of sorcery or Jinn possession. What is your opinion?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Everything is in the Hands of Allaah The Almighty, Who distributes provision among His slaves as He wishes. All slaves must surrender to and be satisfied with what Allaah The Almighty decrees, because there must be wisdom behind His judgments as He is All Knowing and All Aware. No one can withhold what He has given or give what He has withheld, and none can reverse His judgment. Thus it is good to be content with His decree, and evil lies in being discontent.
Therefore, we advise you to be content with the decrees of Allaah The Almighty, and to seek His help, since He never fails a person who supplicates to Him. Also, you must never object to His decree or despair of His mercy. Do be careful of the Devil’s whisperings and of evil thoughts because they are very dangerous and their consequences are destructive.
Try not to occupy yourself too much with thinking about this matter, since you will certainly receive what Allaah The Almighty has predestined for you and no one can prevent you from receiving this. Moreover, what has happened may be better for you - Allaah The Almighty may have reserved something better and more useful for you.
In addition, do not listen to those who tell you that magic or Jinn possession are the reason for your broken engagements, for there are many other factors that may have caused this. However, if it is proved that you suffer from a work of sorcery or a Jinn possession, then the cure is to seek refuge with Allaah The Exalted and to perform Ruqyah (Quranic healing) according to the Sharee’ah.
