Works on a production line and needs to pray

Question

I have a question regarding Salat. I work from 2:00 pm till 11: 00 pm. How do I pray the Asr and Maghrib I work on a production line and it is very hard to leave the line and go to pray.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

It is not permissible for this man to delay the prayer from its time because of this work. Allah, The Most-High, ordered us to safeguard and perform the prayer at its right time whether in urban areas or during travel, in a state of security or fear, in peace or war.

Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Guard strictly (five obligatory) AsSalawât (the prayers) especially the middle Salât (i.e. the best prayer 'Asr). And stand before Allâh with obedience [and do not speak to others during the Salât (prayers)] And if you fear (an enemy), perform Salât (pray) on foot or riding…..}[2:238-239]. Meaning that we should pray when in a state of fear or during war, walking, or on horses (or on any means of transport), even if we have to pray without making Ruku’ (bowing down) or making Sujud (prostrating) or facing the Qiblah. In some cases, we have to pray even, by just gesturing and signaling with our eyes in case of necessity.

So if this is the case during war and Jihad, what about during peace and security? This man must repent to Allah and perform the prayers at their due time. If he is not praying on time just because of this work, then he must leave it and seek another employment which will help him in this world and in the Hereafter.

There is no good in a work which prevents and distracts someone from performing the prayers.

Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salât (prayer) on the day of Friday (Jumu'ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allâh [Jumu'ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salât (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing), that is better for you if you did but know!}[62:9]. He also Says (interpretation of meaning): {….And whosoever fears Allâh and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine….}[65:2-3].

Allah knows best.
