Question

What is the effect of changing your religion from Islam to another religion on a person, community and country? Please answer me quickly.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Returning to disbelief after being a believer is worse than staying as a disbeliever.

An apostate does not approve of the religion he/she embraces. As regards a disbeliever who is originally on disbelief, he/she may approve of his/her religion if she/he pays the Jizya, or is on a contract of peace.

An apostate is of two kinds:

First kind, an apostate who calls others to his/her apostasy; therefore his/her harm and evil are apparent, as well as the effect on the society. Among this category are those who call to secularism, as they corrupt the minds and religion of the youth of the Ummah.

Second kind, an apostate who is hiding his/her apostasy; his/her effect on the society is also obnoxious. In fact, disbelief is the greatest of sins and it is known that sins have an effect in spreading evil deeds and afflictions (tribulations) which, in their turn, lead to punishment and to the prevention of good deeds and blessings.

We seek refuge in Allah from this.

Allah knows best.
