Zina of eye-sight and practicing bio-technology

Question

1. Does Islam allow a husband to kiss his wife in the mouth, i.e. mouth-to-mouth kissing?
2. Is it allowed for a Muslim to practice bio-technology because according to my opinion it is not allowed because it involves transgression of Allah's creation just like human cloning?
3. The prophet has told us that the eyes, ears and heart commits adultery? Is the punishment of committing adultery with a woman equal to this type of adultery?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

It is permissible for a husband to kiss his wife in the mouth. It is confirmed that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) used to kiss Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, in her mouth. Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

Imam Ahmed also reported in his Musnad from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) used to kiss her wherever he wanted on her face.

So, in principle, this is permissible if there is no prohibition.

As regards working in bio-technology, its ruling differs according to the type of work. This science could be used in agriculture, and in animal breeding. The Islamic Fiqh committee of the Islamic World League, in its 15th conference held in Makkah, gave a Fatwa that it is permissible.

This science might also be used in cloning and interfering in human genetics on the grounds of improving human progeny and the like, and this is not permissible.

As regards the Hadith about Zina (adultery/fornication) of the limbs, it was reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) called it Zina metaphorically, (figurative meaning) as it leads to real Zina. Of course, its sin differs from that of real Zina.

So, the worldly punishment for it is not like the punishment for adultery or fornication, like stoning or whipping.

Allah knows best.
