Question
I have a problem but it is better now Al-Hamdu Lillaah. I'm about 35-years of age and I have a half sister that I haven't seen for about 7 years. She is now 16. When I saw her she is too beautiful and bad things come to my mind. What can I do? I know I can't marry her. It feels much better now, but I feel jealous when people talk about marriage for her. What can I do to get rid of these feelings? I can't look at her because she looks to good, please help me with good advice. We all in the family pray.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
Indeed you did well by asking about matters that are important about your religion and by being keen on preserving your private parts from what Allaah has forbidden for you. There is no doubt that this sister is one of your Mahaarim and the thoughts that come to your mind are nothing but whispers from Satan, so it is an obligation on you to repel them. In this case it is forbidden for you to look at her or to be in seclusion with her, hence you have to treat her as a marriageable woman to you in such matters. We advise you to supplicate to Allaah as much as possible to protect you from the evil of your desires and of Satan. If you find any envy that Satan put in your heart in her getting married with another man then say to yourself that Allaah has made her lawful to him and did not make her lawful to you as she is your sister.
