Question

Who are the Awwabeen as stated in some Hadeeth of the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

The term Awwaabeen is the plural of Awwaab, which means the obedient, or the one who returns to the obedience [of Allaah]. The meaning of Awwaabeen in the saying of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "The prayer of Awwaabeen should be observed when the young weaned camels feel the heat of the sun.", i.e. when the sun is high up in the sky but before moon, [Muslim], means the prayer of the obedient, or those who return to the obedience [of Allaah] which refers to the Dhuhaa (forenoon) prayer.
