Fatwa:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

The time of the Tahajjud prayer starts from the time after performing the ‘Isha prayer until the beginning of the time of Fajr prayer. The second Athaan in Makkah starts at the beginning of the time of Fajr, and the time to pray the two Rak’ahs of the Sunnah of Fajr prayer is after the beginning of the time of Fajr prayer (i.e. after the second Athaan). The obligatory Fajr prayer is not valid unless it is performed after dawn (i.e. at the time of the second Athaan). However, it is permissible for a person to perform as much supererogatory prayers as he wishes between the two Athaans (the first and the second Athaan.

Allah Knows best.
