Question

During the nights of Ramadan, which is better for the woman: to pray in the mosque or at home, especially if there are lectures and admonitions in the mosque? What would you tell the women who pray in the mosque?

Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen may Allah have mercy upon him said: "It is better for women to pray at home as the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Their prayer at home is better for them.” Going out entails Fitnah (tribulation) in many cases. Thus, staying at home is better than going out to the mosque. As for lectures and admonitions, women can attain this via listening to audio cassettes. I say to the women who go to the mosque that they should go out without exposing their beauty or wearing perfume."

Allah Knows best.
