Ramadan and the Quran-IV

Do the disbelievers and the disobedient benefit from the Quran?
While the disbelievers do not benefit at all from the Quran because they turn away from it and belie it, the disobedient people, too, benefit little from the Quran due to deserting it and indulging in their desires and lusts. Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {And when you recite the Quran, We put between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed partition. And We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And when you mention your Lord alone in the Quran, they turn back in aversion.} [Quran 17: 45-46]
This is the position of the disbelievers and the hypocrites: they do not benefit from the Quran at all.
The people of disobedience, however, have deserted the Quran. Thus, the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), complained to Allah The Almighty of them. Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Quran as [a thing] abandoned."} [Quran 25: 30]
Commenting on the verse, Ibn Katheer may Allah have mercy upon him said, "They were away from it (the Quran) in favor of poetry or other words or songs or idle talk or some other way, which is the same as deserting it (the Quran)." [Tafseer Ibn Katheer]
How many people today are fond of songs and listen to music non-stop? They have deserted the Quran to the extent that they no longer want to hear it. One’s heart cannot love the Quran and love songs at the same time.
There are some houses whose inhabitants spend their nights and days listening to songs and music. They do not even feel shy to listen to them publicly; they are blatant in their disobedience to Allah The Almighty and publicize it.
Allah The Almighty is no longer mentioned in their houses. Instead, the music of the devil is everywhere and thus the devils are widespread in every nook and corner of these houses. Devils have also penetrated deeply into the hearts of these people and turned them from the path of guidance to the road to sins and corruption. Consequently, they suffer from psychological diseases, disorders and disturbing dreams. They have become like those regarding whom Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {Satan has overcome them and made them forget the remembrance of Allah. Those are the party of Satan. Unquestionably, the party of Satan - they will be the losers. } [Quran 58: 19]
Such people to experience an evil end in life where their tongues cannot give the testimony of the truth at the time of death. There are many famous incidents in this regard.
The market of singing and music is profitable and the number of male and female singers is increasing today only because of the large male and female audience. There is no power nor strength save in Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.
On the other hand, the people of faith and the Quran experience an unmatchable state of happiness and joy when they meet their Lord. They exalted the Quran and thus Allah The Almighty grants them a good end in life. They recited the Quran extensively, pondered on its meanings and acted accordingly; thus, the angels receive them with great processions giving them the glad tidings of the pleasure of Allah The Almighty and Paradise. Thus, they will be safe and tranquil when in the agonies of death.
Here is the example of the recitor of the Quran and the scholar of Hadeeth and Fiqh, Abu Bakr ibn ‘Ayyaash may Allah have mercy upon him. When he was on his deathbed, his sister engaged in weeping. He said to her, "Why do you weep? Look at this corner of the house where your brother concluded the recitation of the whole Quran 18,000 times." [Nuzhat Al-Fudhalaa’]
Is this man equal to the one who listened to thousands of songs and wasted thousands of hours in disobedience? No, by Allah, they are not equal. It saddens one to see young Muslim children raised on songs and music, their families as proud of them as the people of the Quran are proud of their children for memorizing the Quran. It is a catastrophe when members of our Ummah (nation) are brought up on the music of Satan. It is better, even obligatory, that they should be brought up on the words of Allah The Almighty.
Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed. It is a good opportunity to revive our Masjids and houses with the words of the Quran, particularly because people incline to the Quran during this month.
Lastly, those who are fasting should not let anything in their house distract them from the Quran, particularly when it is contradicting the Quran. An example could be the TV programs that evil people broadcast during Ramadan. They make these programs as interesting as possible during Ramadan in order to attract more viewers to their channels, which vie with the Quran and with other acts of worship.
