Question
Assalaamu ‘Alaykum,
My question is: How can I increase my weight in Ramadan? How can I guarantee that my weight would not decrease in Ramadan as I am underweight? Thank you.

Answer
In the Name of Allah The Most Merciful, The Ever Merciful,

Dear sister,

Assalaamu ‘Alaykum,

I ask Allah The Exalted to accept our righteous deeds.
I hope that there is no physiological reason for your being underweight such as diabetes, which is what I understand from your message. Therefore, I advise you to consume various foods that increase weight. Your diet should provide more calories than what your body needs. You should consume more high-calorie foods such as nuts, fried potatoes, dried figs, dates, sesame, fenugreek, groundnut, anise, bananas, honey, fresh fruit juices, full fat milk, carbohydrates such as oats, wheat, barley, rice and sugar.

We also advise you to get adequate sleep, light exercise, and stay away from anything that incurs psychological disorders. We also recommend reading the Noble Quran frequently, for it is a remedy for the hearts, a mercy, and it brings about peace of mind and tranquility.

May Allah The Exalted shower you with bounties and blessings and grant you good health and well-being. May Allah grant us success.
