Question

Should the meat of the Udhiyyah be distributed uncooked or grilled?

Fatwa

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) is His Slave and Messenger.

The one offering Udhhiyyah is commanded to eat from it and give charity from it as Allah Almighty says (what means): {So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor.} [Quran 22: 28]

Al-Qurtubi may Allah have mercy upon him said in his Tafseer:

This order indicates recommendation according to the majority of scholars. It is recommended that one eats from his sacrificial animal and Udhhiyyah and to give most of it in charity. They also held it permissible that one eats it all or gives it all in charity.

There is no difference in this feeding between giving the meat uncooked or grilled. All cases are permissible and there is no blame in any of them due to the generality of the word {feed}. Feeding encompasses all this.

Allah Knows best.
