Dying on the day of ‘Eed or on the 15th of Sha’baan

Question:

I would like to ask about certian days of the year that if someone passes away on them is there any speciality in them. For example, no punishment in the grave maybe. I have heard that friday is one of those days, so what about Eid or 15 of Sha'aban and days like that? Jazzakom Allah Kola Khier

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We have already issued Fataawa 89102 and 92220 clarifying the excellence of dying on Friday, so please refer to them.

However, after a great effort and investigation, we have not come across any evidence on the excellence of dying on the day of 'Eed or on the 15th of Sha'baan or in any other days.

If a person dies while Allaah is pleased with him, it does not matter on which day he died. Similarly, if a person dies on a preferred day while Allaah is angry with him, then that day does not intercede for him.

Allaah Knows best.
