Imaam remembering after the prayer that he was not in a state of purity

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum, I would pls. like to know the Islamic ruling in a situation whereby a man led people in prayers and after finishing he realised that he was not purified, i.e. he did not have abolution, or he had janabah and did not take the ritual bath, etc. Would inform the people that joined him or he will just keep his mouth shut? Ma'assalam,

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If the Imaam (the person leading the prayer) remembers after the prayer that he was not in a state of purity, he is not obliged to inform the congregation about it, but he is obliged to purify himself and repeat the prayer. But the prayer of the congregations is valid.
