Question:

Dear responsible I am a 27 years old girl. I have a permanent problem acquainted with salat. I usually have secretions whether I am sexually excited or not. Also I am very fast sexually excited. and I was told that I need to do istinjaa( I mean to wash the secretions )and then wodou before every prayer. This is very tiring and embarrassing and means that I miss many of the day activities as I am always late and lagging others. I envy my friends who just simply pray without all these washing. Also I turned to be suspicious and depressed However my question: 1-Many times secretions are sticky and unwashable what shall I do then? thank you so much and sorry if I am bothering you

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

There are no discharges that cannot be washed; even the sticky ones can be washed away. The liquid [discharge] which comes out of a woman’s private parts as a result of desire is of two kinds:

1-    The Mathy: this is a fine sticky white liquid which comes out when a woman thinks about sex and it is not followed by relief or relaxation, and sometimes she does not feel that she has had these discharges at all. This liquid is impure and if it touches the body or clothes, it must be washed; it only invalidates ablution – like urine – and it does not necessitate Ghusl (ritual bathing).

2-     The Maniyy: this is a fine yellowish liquid which a woman discharges with desire, and she feels relaxed and relieved after this discharge comes out. If she has this kind of liquid, she is obliged to perform Ghusl. However, this kind of discharge is pure according to the preponderant opinion of the scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them.

As regards the vaginal discharges which come out from the womb, then according to the view we adopt here in Islamweb, it is pure even though it invalidates ritual purity and necessitates ablution.

Therefore, you may distinguish between the discharges which you have according to the description which we mentioned above.

If the discharges which you have are impure, then you should put a pad in order to prevent the impurity from touching your body and clothes.

However, if these discharges are continuous and cause an unbearable difficulty to an extent that it does not discontinue for a period that is enough to perform ablution and the prayer, then in this case you may perform the prayer while you have these discharges.
